Biography: Stuart Arnett

Stuart grew up in Gananoque, Ontario, in the heart of the 1000 Islands. This is arguably one of the most beautiful areas of Eastern Ontario and it played a significant role in his wildlife and nautical interests.

Stuart primarily works in graphite, allowing him to obtain the high level detail seen in his wildlife illustrations.

Stuart is self-taught and draws his quest for detail from his scientific and chemistry education as well as his love of nature in its true form. Recently Stuart is focusing on what he has called "Artistic Cartography". This involves using a map; topographical or nautical, as the actual "canvas" and truly bringing his subject matter back to it’s geographical home. This concept works exceptionally well for species with specific environmental domains as well as historical studies as shown below.

Stuart now lives in Ottawa with his wife Tracy and their two daughters Jane and Ruth Ann.

Stuart is represented by several galleries throughout Ottawa and Eastern Ontario as well as internationally in the United Kingdom by Loviisa Fine Arts.

Stuart is a member of the Worldwide Nature Artists Group.
