James E. Pay, UA, award winning, internationally-known artist paints the world as he sees it. James and his wife, Eileen, left Canada in 1996 and lived in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Bahamas and then moved to the UK where most of Western Europe was travelled. They returned to Canada in 2004 to the Stoney Creek, Ontario area of Canada by Lake Ontario to set up their studio/gallery and workshop room. James tutors in watercolour and acrylic painting in-house and to art clubs throughout the world.
Originally tutored by colourist Margery Smith, MFA, and mentored by the late A. J. Casson, the last living member of Canada's Group of Seven, the artist continues to explore new applications to express the essence of his images, mostly landscapes and florals. His acrylic methods of painting mostly are achieved by layering in over 30 glazes light glazes of colour, each overlapping after drying and building up a depth of colours where you can see into the picture.
James is an elected member of the United Society of Artists, London, England and was vice-chair of Central Arts Scotland when they resided in the UK. His paintings are in collections throughout the world.
