<h1><font face="verdana">Biography: Heather Assaf</font></h1> <div align="left"> <p>Artist Statement</p> <div align="left"> <p>The emphasis of my paintings is to explore the relationship of natural forms to each other and my relationship to nature as my subject. I am looking for that centeredness in all of life, for a perfect balance that allows us to be one with our surroundings.<br> <br> Sometimes I begin with a photograph from my travels as a starting point and other times I try and let the painting arise spontaneously and intuitively, starting only with colours, music and the spark of an idea. The images that manifest themselves are always a surprise and I am finding this a very exciting way to work.<br> <br> I enjoy working in a variety of mediums from pencil, pen and ink, pastel, watercolour, oil, acrylic, collage and finally to a combination of all or some of the above.<br> </p> </div> <div align="left"> Mixed media has been a natural progression for me considering my background and I continue to create in this manner using canvas, board and paper.<br> <br> In the last 2 years my curiosity has taken me to more abstract images and I have discovered the wonderful world of intaglio printmaking.
