ARTIST'S  STATEMENT

Dina Milne I enjoy the way light reflects into the glass, the play of colours.  I delved into the world of glass thru enameling at OCAD while studying there.  I find the opportunity of glass beads more transportable and has allowed me to hunt for the unusual in my travels.  Mixing semi precious stones, metals, vintage beads and pearls with glass gives more depth to a piece. 
 
Each piece is a meditation of design, colour and texture of shapes.  The knotting technique has evolved over the years; I find the movement in the larger pieces takes on a sensual feel.
 
The history of embellishments has always fascinated me, the styles of adornment whether it be textiles or jewelry of different cultures constantly simulates new ideas.  From simple to ornate jewelry can be the first expression of self.
