Antal has always had an interest in art by no formal training. At an early age painting became a hobby for him which grew into a lifelong passion. In 1971, Antal and his wife Ann along with their two young daughters immigrated to Canada. The first few years were hard for the artist. He worked a full time job as he sold his paintings to a Mississauga Ontario wholesale gallery. He also did commissions for friends and families. As his paintings became more and more popular he sold his art to several local galleries and a gallery in Ohio.
Antal is currently retired in Lakefield, Ontario where he enjoys his passion for oil paintings in a more relaxed setting. His images come from his heart. His paintings have one of tow themes; old cities and farms from his homeland in Croati; or old mills and landscapes from his new home in Canada. He uses several techniques to express his unique style. The palette knife shows the ruggedness of his landscapes while the small intricate brush strokes make his horses come alive.Antal currently paints in his home studio in Lakefield, Ontario.
