Twyla Webster is a Canadian artist known primarily for her renditions of the spectacular countryside of the Rideau/Ottawa Valley. Working in oils, she translates the colour and magnificence of the landscape to works on canvas and wood panels.
Using brush or palette knife, she creates works of rich colour and pervasive strength in a powerfully expressive style.
Painting en plein air with an 8 x 10 pochade easel box, the sketch size canvas’s require the artist work intuitively with bold, deliberate strokes capturing subtle changes of light and seasonal moods that embody and yield to us a lasting sense of the Canadian spirit.
A professional artist for many years, she was born in Federicton New Brunswick in 1953, raised and education in Toronto, graduating with an Honours BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts degree ) from York University. Twyla has numerous works housed in corporate as well as private collections across Canada. Additionally her work has appeared in galleries in numerous solo and selected group exhibitions including the Canadian Museum of Nature “Evergreen’92 show in Ottawa commemorating Canada’s 125 Anniversary of Confederation., and in the 1999 and 2002 juried international art exhibitions at y Tabernacl, the Museum of Modern Art, Wales England.
