Biography: Martha Markowsky, S.C.A.

Born in Lachine, Martha Markowsky, an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists, is well-known for her famous oil paintings of orchestras with musicians in tuxedo and their shimmering instruments. She also likes to paint children playing in old neighbourhoods, like Lachine. Therefore, this prolific artist is renowned for her introspective works depicting and exploring interior bar scenes with smoke and mirrors ambiance.

Along with her full time work of painting, she also teaches classes in oils and acrylics with the Dorval Artists Association, lectures to various art leagues and each year conducts workshops in the Charlevoix region.

She is a member of many art groups; namely, the Society of Canadian Artists, Visual Arts Ontario, CARFAC as well as the Dorval Artists Association, Lachine Artists Association and the Nepean Fine Arts League.

Participating in numerous group shows, as well as solo exhibitions in Calgary, Ottawa, Montreal, Kingston, South Lancaster and Toronto. Martha is represented in major galleries across Canada. In the Montreal area, you can find her works at Art et Culture, Old Montreal; Balcon d”Art, Saint-Lambert; Renaissance Gallery in Saint-Sauveur; Chase Gallery, Beaconsfield. In Ottawa, Martha’s paintings are exhibited at Galerie d’Art Vincent.

Some of the corporate collectors include the Canadian Museum of Civilization, Royal Bank, Delta Hotel, Ottawa Senators Hockey.
